hi pekka, hi all,

what happens if i manually delete photos that are used in an exhibition, in my input folder with an ftp client?

in other words, is it absolutely necessary for for the database that photos used in an exhibition remain in the input folder as EE produces resized copies of them in the image folder?

i don't want to try this out, maybe this ruins the mysql database, as every photo has an unique ID.

thanks!

The input folder (or gallery/input/UPLOAD/) is not used at all by EE after photo has been resized/uploaded/added n upload page. Unless it has been added as path in path editor (which may not be wise anyways).

BTW, You don't have to use ftp to delete those files from upload folder which are already in EE. Just use "DELETE FILES THAT ARE USED IN EE DATABASE" below file list on upload page.

thank you, pekka, for this very helpful - and - space saving :) information!
so, the upload folder is just a place for storage and has nothing to do with the database!

thank you!!
