I was so excited I had to do a portrait of it. :p

Now to spend the time to learn how to use it. Doesn't seem too hard so far. :D

lol just found a photo of the 580EX on a 350D. I never knew how funny it looks! Has anyone got a photo of a 580EX on a 350D with a grip?

Hey A01 ...

Doesn't look that funny, the pic you found is distorted! I used my 580EX pretty comfortably on my 350D when I had it. Big lenses looked silly but the flash was fine :-) (no grip even)

Gidday A01,

I just ordered a 580ex for my 350D as well from Ebay. I had read reports about the size of it compared to the Rebel. The suggestion was to use the 430ex as it looked better. I wanted the best I could afford so I went the 580ex.

Hoping mine turns up on Tuesday, I have also ordered the wireless triggers that are mentioned here as well. THat should arrive on Wednesday.

Can't wait.

Cheers

Hi Richard

Exactly, that's why I went the 580ex in the end.

Cheers,

Wow that's a long trip.... hope it rides a fast plane there, and not some guy in a row boat. :S

People by camera equipment based on how it looks? I got the 580EX for the features and preformance. I'd rather have an over powered flash that spends most of it's time dialed back than to have one that is underpowered. Even if that only happens once in a blue-moon. I agree with you, go with best you can afford. :D We invest so much money in lenses and camera bodies that I think the 580EX is an easy justifiable expense.

My hands aren't big either, but I'm still considering getting the grip. I've heard it helps balance the camera better. With my 300D and Flash the worst combination is the 50mm f/1.8. Not a lot of lens to hold onto and the camera wants to rotate forward with the weight of the flash. Even though the EF28-135 is heavier the setup doesn't feel as akward. I didn't want to invest in a battery-grip for my 300D cause I was thinking about getting a 30D in the future. Adding the flash to my set-up may have changed my mind. A hand strap would be a nice add on as well.
