Hi All,

I am very new to photography I have posted a few links and I always get such great advice.

I am wanting to know more about borders and frames. I am particulary wanting to know how do you get the black borders around the photos I have adobe photoshop 7.

Thanks

There have been many discussions on frames and mats here, I'm sure you could find allot of resources spending some time with the search function.

Have a look at Mike's Framer (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=75175). It is a pretty neat collection and not that expensive.

If all you are looking for is a black border around your images, it is relatively simple to do that.

Increase the canvas size. The additional white area around your image will be that that you will make black. Do a selection of this area around the outside of your image. Preferably move it to a new layer. You can them select the new layer and fill this area with black or anything else that you want. While it doesn't necessarily have to be on its own layer, I do it this way so that I can then go into the layer blending options and put further changes such as bevels, shadows, etc. on it.

I have taken the time to create myself a number of templates that I can dump an image in that has a border or borders around them. I can them apply, styles, patterns, blending options to those layers. It has saved me a whack of time at the end. It really is quite easy to do.
