This backpack comes in a standard version and an AW (all weather) version. I believe the AW version has some kind of built-in cover. Does anyone have any experience with this.... is the cover effective and is it worth the extra cost?

If you are going to be out in rainy, snowy, dusty weather, then get the AW. It is a waterproof cover that stores away in a pouch on the packpack and takes just seconds to open and cover the bag. The AW Minitrekker also has a built in tripod carrier that comes in very handy.
All my bags are AW models including my packpack and even though the AW is not always used, when you get caught in a sudden downpour, you will say a word of thanks!
