Indexpage settings [Archive] - Canon Digital Photography Forums

it appears that those settings are for the individual group index pages... on my system, i have several groups configured with numerous exhibits in them... on the "master" index page, the public user sees the available groups and a sprinkling of photos from the exhibits in those groups... currently 6 apparently random ones taken from the various exhibits within the groups... when i go into a group's index page, that's where i see those settings take effect... it was set for the eight latest microthumbs... i changed it to three random... on the "master" index page, it stayed basically the same but the photos changed out (ie: still 6 random from random exhibits within the group)... however, on the group's index page, it showed what i had selected in the admin->index settings (ie: three random from each specific exhibit)... changing those settings to show four latest, and a refresh of the group index page gave me the four latest in each exhibit... this from the eight latest that was my original setting...

i have grouped my exhibits ever since EE allowd groups because my setup is handling stuff for several people and each has several exhibits of their own... i would imagine that if you just had exhibits on the main index page, it might be more of what you appear to be expecting to see...

i hope this makes sense...

i'd hazard a guess that if the public user was to see specific exhibits on the "master" index page, those settings would take effect there... but as i say, all my exhibits are contained within groups... it should be easy enough to verify, though... just place one or two exhibits in the INDEX "group" and see... [time passes] yup! i quickly placed two of my exhibits on the "master" INDEX page in the STRUCTURE setup and those settings do effect them the same as they do on the group index pages...
