Hi I have this camera and I use it alot. I really enjoy it... but I am not sure if people think of it as a great camera. Do you think its silly if I use a tripod with it even though its such a small little camera? Do you think it is more of a point and shoot kind of thing?
I am going to do some portrait photos for some friends of mine and I am not sure if I should use my tripod since its so small... although I want to be steady.
Any advice? This is my first post here... I like it here :D

I've used a tripod with my S-400 and it works quite well. Evening and night outdoor shots pretty-much require it.
If you're shooting portraits, you can benefit from the tripod as well. I believe that the S-230 shoots flash at 1/60 second, so that while handheld is acceptable, tripod will eliminate any camera shake issues. Be sure to work well within the camera's flash range. Also, I recommend using ISO-100 setting, as the 50 setting limits your camera in darker situations.

scape... i'm new here too and love these forums...
as for the tripod... camera size should never be a concern.. i know it might look funny, but a tripod was made for a reason... try doing a 15second shutter pic without a tripod, regardless of your camera size :)
enjoy taking pics!
