Below is a link to real cheap Canon inks. $4.95/cartridge. Anybody have experience with these? Advice

In my i960, I've just tried the similarly priced ink from

www.inkjetcartridge.com

I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the replacement Photo-Magenta cartridge. Skin tones went from wonderfully natural to very yellow - looks like the subject has a bad case of jaundice.

I'll do some printer tests tonight to make sure the cartridge is working, but that shouldn't be necessary.

Anybody out there know of sources for truly compatible discount ink, either as cartridge or in bulk?

Oh yeah, another irritation, the replacement cartridge dripped, leaving a big spot of magenta on my jeans!

i have decided to use genuine canon inks in my i960. it is a great printer and i love the quality. i'd rather keep enjoying the quality by using inks that i know are going to deliver.

i spoke with a knowledgeable ink specialist who sells compatible inks. he told me that the inks are 80 percent the same ingredients. he went so far as to say that he thought that they may be superior to genuine inks. upon further questioning though he admitted that they could gum up the jets and cause some problems down the road. no thanks!

I think you have to decide what is important for you. Saving on ink by using third party inks or refills could get very expensive in the long run should they clog or damage the heads. It could be a still greater loss if your prints are not up to the quality the printer is capable of, and/or the colors fade or go wierd prematurely.

Sure, Canon makes good money on the inks and paper, but they also deliver on quality, so I give it to them. I bought the i9100 because I wanted the best printer in the large format, not because I wanted to save money.

My advice is to save yourself headaches rather than money.

I have aslo heard that, particularly with the i960 & 950, the droplet size is so small that the non canon inks aren't fine enough. Their use results in clogged print heads and costly repairs.

Don't do it. You will never get the colors right, you'll get ink all over your hands, and god knows what else. Speaking from personal experience.
