View Full Version : Unexpected behavior of Photoshop CS and the 10D with RGB

When I shoot with the 10D set to standard RGB the Canon FileViewer.exe recognizes that fact in the EXIF data and lists it as sRGB.
However Photoshop does not. It lists the mode as just RGB.
If I shoot in Adobe RGB mode, FileViewer lists it as RGB as expected while Photoshop still indicates RGB ( i.e. you cannot tell the difference )
Is this normal Photoshop behavior or have I missed a setting in PS to cause this?
Thanks

JCalvert,
Scroll further down and look for the entry labelled EXIF Color Space. It will show as sRBG which is correct.

You are converting from raw to TIF/JPG using FVU? If so, I'm not entirely sure that FVU does not embed a colour profile in the output file. What you need to do is assign the appropriate profile in Photoshop as the first step before you do any processing.
If you don't know about assign vs convert, I have an article (http://www.rogercavanagh.com/pstips/15.htm) here that explains the difference.
As far as FVU not recognising Adobe RGB, I think this is to do with Canon sticking by some JEITA standard, which says that the sRGB tag is OK to use in EXIF data, but Adobe RGB is not.
