I picked the camera up for the first time in almost a month and headed off to Croft for the Final round of the BRDA Rallycross Championship today. After several false starts i finally remembered how to use the damn thing and got on with it.
Fortunately it stayed dry, but for the first time this year my hands felt like they'd been packed in ice....must buy gloves for winter :rolleyes:

Dave Bellerby in his 2000cc Peugeot 206. Amazingly quick for a 2wd car.

It's very rare you see the grandstand at Croft this full other than for a BTCC or Superbike race.

I would have liked to have gone a bit wider and got all of the Puma in, but you can't have everything ;)

Thanks for the comments chaps. By the way, before anyone asks they're all taken with the 20D, Sigma 120-300 and 2xTC.

Cracking shots Geoff. The colours in these are great :D I'm gonna have to invest in a 1.4x tc soon, as I am missing the reach on the 100-400 with the 1D.

He was there but didn't run the car. He'd already won the championship, and so didn't need to risk the car with the Rallycross Superprix this coming weekend.

Looks positively trucking fopical compare to Brands at the weekend.

Good work on getting something worth keeping with the 120-300+2xTC, I only managed a few keepers with that combo when I tried it. 600mm at f5.6 is mint...shame the AF is pretty slow, did you pre focus then?

Indeed i did. As you said it's not quick enough to leave the lens to do all the donkey work with the 2x fitted, but as long as i help it along it works quite well. Some need a bit of USM but it's usually restricted to 150/0.2 and the odd touch of Velvia if i can be bothered.

It'll certainly do the job until i can afford a 300 2.8L IS and 2x...in about 2054 i should think :D

I might just order a 1.4x to go with it....

Sell 2x, buy 1.4x

The 1.4x doesn't noticeably affect AF really. It's quick enough to be able to pull it off...oooer
