Good series. I like 4 a lot and the low perspective on 2.

Magnificent cloudscapes! I like the bridge one, very unusual angle of view. 17-40? Some of these have the 'ultrawide' feel.

Thank you both.
I was using the 24-105 on the 5D (I love that combo). And actually, I fell over, trying to photograph a acorn on the ground (by that bridge) so I thought I'd take a shot while I was there...opportunist that I am

I'm kind of liking that fourth one....but the sky in the first is pretty sweet too.

Thanks woolburr...the bugs kinda "drew me" in too though I'm sure it'd be much more artistically correct to clone them out  but since their brethren are (as I write) DOA on my beautiful car, I though it would be respectful to leave the next of kin in, as a memory...

Thank you very much catsith.
Oh, and no the horizon is correct...it's a hill. I thought about making it look straight but it turned the trees on the left to a funny angle...on the first photo I'm standing at the bottom of the hill looking up at the trees at the top, you can kind of see the incline.

I like your bugs one.
What does it look like to crop out the white sky?
I think that it might increase the depth of the shot and certainly the atmosphere.

Thanks Cat, weemannie & Seaborder.

Here's the photo cropped, Seaborder, like you suggested. I like it.

and a non-cropped close up that I'd taken at the same time.

it was the water reflection that threw me! I love the crops you did, great impact.

The closeup is nice, the intersection of the branches frames the sunlight coming through perfectly. The bugs add some depth rather than it just being a solid plane of out of focus trees.

All are very good IMO. Shot with 5D? Especially the backlit #4 is awesome...

Thanks everyone. Yes, these were shot with the 5D/24-105L. To me, it's the ultimate in landscape cameras (though I've had no experience with the 1DS)...but the colors/saturation, detail in shadows just makes landscapes sing IMO. That combo rarely changes. I use my 30D w/a telephoto for other things but the 5D/24-105 seems to be always ready for the landscapes.
