I was browsing for a new lens, when I came across the Sigma Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto 28-70mm f/2.8-4 for $75. Can anyone tell me if this is a good WA lens?

Unless you have a 5D or a 1Ds, it's not really a wide angle lens. More a normal-telephoto lens for the APS-C sensor format.

Is it worth buying if all i currently have is a Rebel K2 and the standard 28mm-90mm lens?

Well its not gonna be any wider than what you have now.
18-55 if you are looking for something wide for your Rebel

Hmm...Just noticed you have a K2 not digital Rebel so the 18-5 is useless to you

Yes. At the moment, I can't afford a digi-rebel. I want the XTi, but my budget won't allow it...

For film... I would get a 17-40mm L

Well, if he cant afford a rebel and teh last lens he looked at was $75 do you really think he could get a lens that expensive???

If you've currently got a 28-90, why get a 28-70? Your only significant gain from this would be the faster aperture by about a stop. If you need wider than 28 on film, consider maybe the Tamron 19-35. Not a bad, inexpensive, lens.

Hmm....

If you want a wide angle, then your looking at third party lenses. One thing you could do if you wanted a WA prime is to get something in a M42 (old manual focus mount) and get an adapter. You'd lose auto focus, but at <20mm you barely need to take it off infinity anyway. You can get some 15-24mm primes for m42 for not very much, but you need to look hard. give http://www.keh.com a go - look under "Pentax screw mount."

Otherwise, the tamron recommended above would be a good try.
