OK, there's a lot of speculation over what the 1D replacement will be.
But, This is the thread to go on record as to what YOU think it will have.
Please include your guess for atleast these items as well as any other "predictions" you may want to go onto record with. This is for the 1D replacement only.
Sensor size & MP: Full or 1."?", "X" Megapixel?
ISO range: "X" to "Y"
Battery type? bp-511s or 1D type?
Frames per second? "X"
Price?
It will be interesting to see who comes the closest (without going over).
I have a brand new shiny quarter for the winner.

Sensor Size: Same as 1D
Res: 6MP
ISO: 160-1600 (plus 2 stops)
Battery: Something brand new...proprietary to the 1D
FPS:8 up to 50 in the buffer
Price: $3000 USD Street
And what state is on that "Shiny quarter?"

I think they'll keep the larger 1D sensor but bump it up to 6mp.
They'll add an automatic mode and the preprogrammed modes (sports etc), to make it of interest to the average consumer.
They'll lower the price by $1500.00 and call it the 1Dh
It will replace the 10D leaving an offering of 3 DSLR's..
One entry level.. 300D
One advanced .. 1Dh
One Pro level 1Ds

Same guess I have maintained since November:
8MP (November guess was 8-9MP, with 11MP possible)
I would guess 1.3x (but FF possible)
ISO 100 to 3200 (first time this guess)
Battery: current 1D/1Ds battery (also first time this guess)
9 FPS for 42 frames. (November guess was 8-9FPS for 40-48 frames)
Price: US $3499 MSRP
Just my guesses,

I could go along with that, if the price were right. :)
More realistically, I expect a 1D replacement that has both higher resolution and higher speed (focus and multi-image) than the new Nikon (and I still expect a 1/1.25 or so sized sensor with the same pixel density of the 10D - around 8 M-Pix). The 1D and Nikon's equivalent seem to have some great appeal for sports and news pros. Canon isn't going to 'diss' the pros. The competition is at its finest right now.

I predict I will buy one (1Dx) in 2004. :)

It won't have a huge pixel count-NO chance.It'll be 7-8Mp at most.
Huge buffer
Better image quality than the D2h?The lowely 10D is allready better at high iso's but of course is not in the same speed class
Definitely wireless as an option.
Still with all the eos 1 weatherproofing, etc
There's really not much they can do actually. What is far more interesting is that this model will tell us where eos 'mid range ' models are going.
Will they bother with a 10D replacement as someone said allready?
The 300D is solidly here for along time one could safely guess(two years + model run?),the 1Ds a similar story. It's ther midrangers where the interest is now

I do tend to agree with that logic other than it would not be enough to tempt 10d owners upwards.

Make your prediction known, don't forget the five catagories for your guess. Does the 1Ds shoot 8 frames per second? Hmm.

I think the 45point auto focus and 8fps are enough by themselves to temp a 10D owner to upgrade, should he/she be using the 10D at its limitations in sports photography and want a little more.. I can think of too many instances where 3fps captured a nice image, but 8fps would have netted me THE image.

OK Ok, perhaps I should have added MOST 10D users

Most speculation appears to center on MP count and FPS statistics. Increased MP count or full frame does not excite me.
The question of upgrading for most 10D owners would depend on price. Of COURSE the 45pt AF sensor system is better. OF COURSE the higher FPS is better. At $3000+, I suspect few 10D owners would upgrade (afterall, the 1D as it stands would be worthy of consideration). At $1500, a larger number would be tempted.
What would really be intruiging is if Canon improves the 1D feature set. By this I mean things like: improved ability to change ISO on the fly (iso in viewfinder) Averaging exposure mode for E-TTL flashes
By making those two changes, in addition to the 45pt AF system and high FPS would be very tempting to existing 10D owners => the lower the price, the more the temptation.

I have not been able to get to the site for awhile, but finally found the predictions I had made on Canon's new camera.
Bad guess on price (I won't be upgrading, unless I win the lottery - saving for 1Ds or follow-on) and I will have to say that it was a bad guess on Frame rate (which I considered to be the RAW image frame rate, but otherwise, pretty darn close.
Of the 6 guesses from this page, I believe I got the closest, but then I am an intelligence (Imagery) analyst by training and 20+ years experience and know how to put together disparate rumours in to a correhent guess.
I just had to look for it out of curiosity - feel free to ignore it now, I know I will.

Just my guesses,
BTW: My current guess for 1Ds upgrade is November 2004 or Feb 2005, slightly bigger buffer and/or frame rate. If November pixels the same, if Feb 2005 then more pixels (WAGing 15-16MP at this point). I expect a slightly bigger buffer for sure if released in Feb. I am not guessing on price at this time because I need to see price and users reviews of Kodak SLRn (14n upgrade) first to see if there is any competition to 1Ds.
I would also expect an remote link (ala D2H) attachment by Fall and dual card slots.
Just my prediction results and future guesses.
[disclaimer: I should not be held accountable for my predictions at this point as there is not enough reliable rumours to form a good guess. The is only enough trend data to support a WAG.]

You were very close yes, but my prediction was 100% correct! :D
16.1mp, DIGIC-II for the new 1Ds with everything pretty much bumped a tick or two; buffer, fps, but not much. People will be very disappointed if they don't announce it at Photokina and wait till PMA2005.
You ought to use those skills to figure out a way to win the Lotto and then you could get a 1Ds or two or three. ;)

Actually at the time you posted your best guess here there were enough reliable rumors then too. ;)

You know,. this thread was started in Jan 2004... but RFM was on record in October of 2003 prediciting that the next Canon would be a 1D upgrade...
(of course some of us thought that about the Fall anouncement too  which turned out to be the DRebel... )
Fitting that he was the first among us to lay down the cash for this "mythical" 1D replacement....
