I have to buy without trying first and I'd like to see just how wide is "wide" angle of for example Sigma 17-35 when used with Canon camera with 1.6 cropping. The sample photos usually shown are taken with full frame cameras if I'm not mistaken.

That's just one millimeter shorter than kit lens, how big a difference does that make?

I've tried the lens calculator but would like to see real life example shots of these focal lengths if you have some available.

This was taken with a sigma 15-30 on a D60 though for some reason the Exif shows it as 18mm I am pretty sure it was cranked open. I could touch the car from where I was sat!

I also have a Canon 17-40 and prefer this for common usage but the Sigma 15-30 does come in handy though it is quite a big beasty and quite slow to focus compared to the Canon. The 2mm difference between 17 and 15 is very noticeable even with the digital crop.
