Yesterday my battery was in it's last square for the first time(the thierd square just turned off) and I tried to take a photo of 6'.The click was heard and the CF light was on. The problem is that the CF light never turned off. The camera stuck and only after I pulled the battery out it turned off. I repeated many times with speeds of 4-6 and 8 sec. The same thing happened. I had to take the battery out. In faster speeds no problem. Then I recharged the battery and the problem disappeared. Could someone repeat the test when the battery is in it's last square and post some answers?None of these is mentioned in the manual. My ex 10D had none of these "specialities". Thanks

I talked to the Canon service yesterday and they told me that it is normal and the power is not enough to take the picture.Simply change the battery.I am relieved...

I have had this happen when trying to take several shots in a row. I thought it was the buffer size. But it would lock up the camera, CF light would stay on, even after 5 minutes. Turned camera off and got a "Busy" screen. Had to take out battery. After reading your post thedoc, I think my problem may be the same as yours, the battery. Canon made the battery WAY TO SMALL for the XTi at only 720mah. I was already planning on getting the Opteka vertical grip, and two aftermarket 1500mah batteries, so I'll see if it makes a difference having more power. Makes sence to me, anyway.

I also have the grip and I am waiting 2x800mah non OEM batteries.I will test and inform you about my results.
