Hey guys !

I would really appreciate any help here.. So I've got two questions. How can I, on the 400d, make sure that I'm shooting in RAW mode? When I'm hooking the camera up to the pc, all I get is jpegs..
My second question is how I get a studio flash hooked up to it. I do have a sync cable for the flash, yet I cannot find a plug for it on my 400d.

Thanks everyone,
Matty

I have the 350d so it might be different but on your main menu you should have the choice to switch between L, M, S and RAW/JPG, RAW. It is a possiblity that you are shooting RAW/JPG and unless you are opening the pics up in a program that supports RAW files the JPGs are only showing up

If you're in the "Creative Zone" (letters in the mode dial) you can get RAW or RAW+JPEG. If you're in the "Basic Zone" (cute li'l piccies) you'll only be able to shoot/save JPEG.

No, that is for multiple flash units I believe. You want a simple hot-shoe to PC adapter, should cost about $10US.

And RAW is set on the camera menus and will only be available in the 'creative ' zones, M, Av, Tv, P.

The latest version of DPP (Canon free software with camera) will allow the conversion of 400D raw files. But get a card reader and don't try to move them directly from the camera via the usb cable. It can be problematic.

thanks a bunch. i gotta get a hotshoe adapter then I guess.. as for the transferring the RAWs to the PC, it works fine w/me but since cardreaders aren't that expensive, I'll get one as well.
