SD400 - Determing My Problem?

Alright, so I just bought a camera off of ebay for pretty cheap that I knew the LCD screen wasn't working. Before I bought it, I found this site which had the infamous thread on replacing the LCD screen. However, before I go purchase a new screen... I wanna make sure that it will fix my problem.

My LCD screen, unlike some described by others, does not turn on whatsoever. It remains completely black. There is no light whatsoever, no cracks visible, or anything of the sort.

Is there anybody out there that can suggest whether a new LCD screen will be the solution or what else may be the problem?

Actually... now that I look very closely. I can see that there IS an image on the LCD, however it is too dark. Is this probably a broken backlight?

I dont know if you are technical enough, but opening up a camera to replace a LCD is very tricky to do I think, especially with these very tiny connectors in there.
