I'm a new owner of Canon IXUS II and a novice to photography.
How can I take photos of animals in a night safari without startling them and the photo will still look good (not dark at all)? What are the settings required?
Please help........ thank you.

(night shots of animated objects are rather difficult and sometimes impossible...)
Either you use the flash (but the animals won't appreciate it) so the picture will not be too bad
Or you use a long exposure time, but then you have to use a tripod, high ISO and of course tell the animal not to move for the exposure time
Or you have to get one of those rest-light amplifiers (don't know if it's the exact term), but you'll only have BW pictures. The super-night-shot functions in the sony (sorry for shocking the canon purists here 8) ) video-cams do a good job there also...
That's all I can think of except that perhaps the Ixus is not the right cam for doing night safari
