Have you transferred images from a CF to the iPod yet? I'm considering getting the 20GB as a multi purpose tool, and the image transfer is a key issue for me...I've heard that it is quite slow at this task. Thanks.

I didn't know you could transfer images from your CF card to the iPod. When did that capability come about? Or do you still have to get the Belkin (?) interface?

With the release of v2.1 of the software. Buy the Belkin CF Interface device, about the size of a pack of cigarettes and it plugs directly into the iPod.
I bought this with the new 15Gb iPod and it works great. The iPod acts like a Firewire harddisk. Just use your image transfer software of choice and away you go.
Oh yeah, does a nice job with music too

Welp i went to best buy and bought a 20gig ipod for 340...open box.
I dont have the CF card reader yet but it'll be great when i do, i figure go to a football game listen to nirvana and snap away some pictures. When my 512mb card gets full, i'll throw it on the 20 gig ipod...think of how many pictures i can keep on there :-D

Hey, Timmy, just make sure that when you go back to shooting pictures and listening to Nirvana after downloading the images into your iPod you point the iPod back to the MP3 folder. Otherwise you'll end up listening to your image files and if you have the iPod set to a volume fit for Nirvana, i.e. LOUD, you may end up blowing your ear drums out!

I really really wanted to get this - having gotten an iPod a few weeks before the reader was announced. However, at 0.3 MB/sec transfer rate the batteries run out before you can transfer a 1 GB card to it!
Quote from the Belkin site
"The Media Reader for iPod is optimized for the majority of digital
camera users, shooting images of 1-3MB in size. The transfer speed
of the Media Reader, with most media brands/types and using iPod
software version 2.1, is 300-320KBps.Â* This results in a transfer
time of between five and six minutes for a full 128MB card. "

And they've said there are no plans to "speed it up"
