My Powershot A85 has a broken pin in the card slot. I purchased a new card slot unit from Canon but cannot get the camera apart to install.
I have the bottom part of the case loose but cannot get the top open. It appears the function knob should be removable and there may be some screws under there but I do not want to get to agressive with it and break it. I cannot figure out where there would be additional screws to release that part. HELP!!!!! Birthday of a 4 and 10 year old on Sunday, thanks

Thanks so much, the two are very similar. Anyone have any additional info or advice.
I got the cover off, I now have more respect for the repairman. Taking it slow I should be fine but any further input is welcome, thanks.

I seem to be stuck at the same point as Markie was, but the info on the A70 is not helping me. I have removed 8 screws; as far as I can see, the A85 has only 1 screw in the USB port and 2 in the battery area (although there are 4 more screws in the battery area near the battery door, that are far from the function knob area where things are stuck). I can't find the date battery, if this is indeed supposed to be removed to find an additional screw, as for earlier models. Help?

The date battery in the A60, A70, A75, and A85 is located under the optical viewfinder. The viewfinder is held by three screws. Once the screws are removed you may need to jiggle it a bit to free the viewfinder as there is an additional plastic clip. The battery will be exposed, just remove and replace it, and reinstall the viewfinder.
