Last game of the season for the pool play championship and a whole lot of tension between the teams/players/coaches/refs/fans. First time shooting night football and to add to the joy it was raining the entire time so I had my 20D and 300 2.8 IS wrapped in a garbage bag (maybe time to invest in rain gear?). Not sure how many keepers there is with the low shutter speed due to horrible lighting...but here's a few that stuck out a bit. Any C&C is welcome.

#1 - Star running back trying to cut the corner and where the fun began of players getting in shouting/shoving matches, the visiting team screaming at the home teams fans and vice versa, then the coaches arguing with refs over the lack of control they had over either team. Oh how I miss football. http://www.knockoverrecords.com/NIGHTFB01.JPG

#2 - Yea coach, it's cold...had to go to sportraits a bit as action was hard to come by on our side of the field.

#3 - DB looking for the running back coming around the corner...

#4 - so ref we're cool right?

#5 - QB runs an option before getting slammed.

#6 - Devil eyed cheerleaders were a little cold and wet but having fun. Used a pop up flash as I wasn't expecting to take anything like this, they just asked for it to be done as I walked by. Shooting a group photo with a 300 is a task in itself, had to go 20 yards downfield.

#7 - Star RB again carrying a defender about 5 yards before being taken down.

#8 - It might have been a little muddy by the end of the 2nd Quarter! QB looks for that option again...

All were taken with 3200 ISO at 2.8 with shutter around 200-400, mostly though 200/250.

Thanks, that one is my favorite of them all so far. That was the QB at the end of the 2nd, don't even want to know how they looked at the end of the game. My hands were freezing, I was drenched, didn't want to stick around. Mudbowl for sure, I'm sure glad I coach girls volleyball indoors instead of still doing football :p

Great shots, I really like #8, classic shot. How did your gear hold up with all that weather, did the trash bag protect the 20D fully

I agree, #8 is awesome. They held up very well for 3200 IMO!

Thanks, #8 seems to be the favorite. The bag actually held up pretty good- it was folded up (not open) with rubberbands holding it onto the lens and then over the body it was just there kind of hanging over and I shot under it a bit. Wasn't pretty by any means but kept the equipment dry except some rain drops here and there sneaking by when I was moving the bag to shoot or something. Definately kind of odd looking, but did it's job.

I rarely use 3200, I thought so to - though I wish I had noise ninja or something to see how they'd look a little "cleaned up".

I agree with the others, #8 is my favorite, but I also like the way your caption on #4 sets it up.

Edit: I asked a question about using cameras in the rain and deleted and moved it to one of my threads so that I wouldn't be taking this thread off topic.

#8 is probably going to be my "selling point" to parents, I like that one the most as I said earlier and pretty much defines the game with the rain/mud. After going through them all I deleted about 50 out of 320 which I thinks not a bad keeper ratio for the conditions (??). As for taking the thread off topic thats not a problem, the best ways to learn are sometimes when someone asks a question off topic. I know I've learned a TON through this forum and read a lot of threads that go off.

To go WAY off topic, the team in white won this game I found out earlier since I left at halftime. I used to wear the blue and orange and was the only one from my class to go play college ball, however I now coach basketball at the other school (white and blue). Hmmm, ok, I have to go with the team I bleed for - I wish the blue/orange team won :( oh well, hopefully next year they'll be playin for a Sectional Championship and not a Pool Play one!!
