hello i had taken the family to the local zoo .and apart from all the normal bigger animals these where the only bird images of the day.

i had done many body shots on this subject but the head shot was the best.

Great job! Always nice to see images that do not look as though they were made at the Zoo.

thanks for the comments every one the bigma is deffinatley a zoo lens with close focus distance 1.5mtrs @ 300mm witha mag 1:5.4 3mtrs 500mm 1:6.8 helps a lot and as eric said it nice to isolate the subject so not to get wire and bars so it does'nt look like the normal zoo shot etc in the b/g all in all very happy apart from i still feel the for a prime .
the only problem i have is wide open shots are soft and resolving power ie .
when you have an bird in the centre of frame and and u have to do 100% crop the detail just isnt there.does any one now if the 400 5.6 will give me this.
many thanks
jason

Very nice, but you might want to go back to the macaw - and spell your surname right, Jason!
