Hi
I recently purchased an IXUS400 and was a little dissapointed that there was no manual control over the shutter speed and focus etc. I am very pleased with the results it produces, but it think it would be so much better if it had these manual controls.

I was wandering whether there might be anyone out there who can perform software/firmware modifications that would enable manual control over these functions.

I am thinking of attempting to tackle this problem myself as i am a student of e-eng. Does anyone know of any sofware tools that can interface with the camera's microcontroller?

If this is not the correct forum to be discussing this, perhaps someone might point me in the direction of one more appropriate.

Any help on this matter would be most appreciated.
Thankyou

I'm sure that could be done if you knew what you were doing.

But, goodbye 1 year Canon warranty...

It would likely be more beneficial to actually just upgrade the camera to the model you should have purchased in the first place...
