Finally someone who puts Condyk in his place! "Birds wear no shoes...". I can't believe nobody has thought of this before! Damn, we must be really stupid.
Wu's critique is hardly worth my time. She could critique that over-fussy pecking of a post herself and so realise its root. I shall remain a gentleman. ;)
As to proposed the bird/gender mix up well that is subjective. One only needs study our Fun Finnish Fellow Olli who transmorphed from Olli to Olga and back to Olli, with the assistance of skilled surgeon and excessive medication, within hours the other day. What an action-packed thread that was!
Now ... onto the story of the Pigeon given we have finally achieved the necessary casting of 50 votes!
I was on regular walkabout when I spied the femme/fella in the corner of a doorway. S/he was all puffed up and looking unhappy. As I approached s/he stayed still rather than flee away. That is unusual, even for the semi-domesticated Pigeon.
Anyway, I assumed s/he had eaten something disagreeable such was the distended crop. That would be my best guess based on bloke/bird empathy. But it is also possible s/he was a Racing Pigeon and just fell from the sky after feeling like a nap. We can't be 100% sure. As to Ronald's guess that the bird was sexually excited, well I am afraid that seems very perverted. Something is not right with the lad I fear
It seems from all the cast votes that the general populous of POTN agree's with my own sensitive assessment ... even that traditional 'mans man' Dante got it right, which was so pleasing! There is an argument some sad loser (and there is a good number of them in this Poll) could make about first and second order symptomology: I mean, s/he could now be depressed (second order) due to a dodgy curry working its way through the system (first order), but we need a winner so 'cry babies' like that can go kiss one of Marie's chicken rears
Most shocking losers perhaps, at least in terms of just how wrong they could be, are CC's Posse members Perm&Gin and BiliousintheKnees! Too much time online perhaps and not enough spent interacting with real people I'm afraid
Finally, there always has to be a King of Fools in any of my 'competitive' threads and as it needs to go to a 'member' with balls enough to post. I know I promised to trouble you no more, but my heart breaks for you, Pet.
What a loss you have suffered.
Should you ever be nearby, I will take you out for a bit of libation so that you can celebrate the life of your beloved departed.
now how many more to go? Never say I wouldn't help a fella out.

Okay, after waiting for 2 days for the answer, I've decided it's boring...and the REAL story must run something like this...
It's a dark and stormy day...the bird felt the need to be alone. His brother had been eaten by a cat, his mother had been a chipmunk eaten by a cat and and father was some weird POTN fellow with a strange predilection for photographing copulating pidgeons. HE REALLY needed to be alone...ah, yes, a doorway, out of the storm. (enter the oddfellow w/a non-L lens...)
Oddfellow: "oh my, what's this?"
Pidgeon: "buzz off buddy, you remind me of my father"
Oddfellow: "a fluffy bird....hmmm...what a puzzle..."
Pidgeon: "who let you out of your cage?"
Oddfellow: "I think I shall photograph it for posterity"
Pidgeon: (ruffles a bit more) "do it and I tell the "family"...you'll never be able to walk safely under a pidgeon again"
Oddfellow: "oh my, a hostile pidgeon....what a puzzle...I think I shall see what my brothers and sisters at POTN think about this strange moment"
Pidgeon: "....and I thought I had it rough"...
(I'm sure this is more like reality....)

I just shrunk a shot of the "brick" until it was just bigger than the actual brick he was holding, pasted it over where the entire brick would have theoretically been, put that layer underneath the man's hand, and then took a soft edge eraser and erased the brick and a bit of his overalls until the underlying brick shone through.

I have tried to mentor your posse members in absentia of the regular master, as discussed.
My initial impression is that some show more promise than others, which is nothing out of ordinary with female students. All of them do require continuing attention in order to sustain them in their ripening proces.
I shall review the individual results of this morning's tests with you in camera later on.
