Ok, the bird is shown in macro-like close up to enable those who feel they have empathy for others to identify his/her current mood (birds are people too!!) There will be no clues and no correspondence will be entered in to. The winning fool will be announced when I have had enough beer ... could be some time

INSTRUCTIONS:

(1) You will look at the bird
(2) You will 'project' yourself into his 'shoes'
(3) You will check out the poll options
(4) You will decide which mood she/he is in
(5) You will select your own poll option
(6) You will think 'What the Duck have I just done that for?'

You want it any easier ... you are in the wrong thread  This is for clever people who can follow instructions.

Be the bird. . .Be the bird. . .Be the bird. . .Be the bird. . .Be the bird. . .Be the bird. . .Be the bird. . .

I'll stick with my initial instinct.

I can't vote! I'd say

....ticked off because that isn't an L lens you're using for his portrait!

(you said to project myself  )

and I still like the shot...but at the end of this, will you tell us why he looks like that? (Bad day at the feather dressers? or what?)

I didn't vote, but that's what all of my birds look like when they're content, tired, sleeping, or when I "tickle" them on their neck.

I did vote it's all indigestion, but in all honesty I think he looks cold, depressed and on top of that has eaten bad curry! One of those days...

Condyk, you're bored, aren't ya? ;)

The original Poll was rather longer and more stimulating but you only get 5 minutes to finish the bl**dy thing and so I lost it all :-( Scared would have been a good one tho'!

This bird is clearly unhappy. all fluffed up like that, it suggests he feels a bit grotty.

On the other hand - they also fluff up like this when they are pissed or horny....so depending on circumstances, he might be extremely unhappy....

Or, as I said, tired. I've had all types of birds all my life. When they want to mate, their tail will spread a bit, they'll bob their head, yes the feathers will be fluffed a bit, and the eyes pin. This is one of the most obvious of moods in birds.

I'd say depressed ... and it's thinking "if that bozo with the camera doesn't stop bothering me I'm gonna fly over and peck his eyes out!. Hasn't he seen The Birds ? ? ? Now shoo ... go away ... don't make me come over there!!!"

If Ronald's right, maybe the 400 would be a better choice than the shorter lenses in your arsenal. ;)

there's nothing wrong with the bird.. birds always look like that.. maybe he's slightly annoyed that he's a bird.. there is the potential curry situation weighing on his mind.. but, for now he's thrilled with getting his face immortalized on POTN..

You may need to consider that all the time you thought that your birds seemed randy they may been depressed. But then again you may have been right and they did want you   I dunno!

Ok, who the heck is Dorian Grey.

Handsome, young, but morally corrupt Dorian Gray has his portrait made. As the years pass, he does not age, but evidence of his sins are apparent in his portrait, which grows uglier with each transgression. He keeps it safely hidden in the attic. But his mysterious behavior and ageless appearance begin to attract suspicion.

Summary written by John Oswalt {jao@jao.com}

Innocent young Dorian Gray has his portrait painted by a close friend. Soon after, under the influence of amoral Lord Henry Wotton, he jilts his fiancee, leading to her suicide. This is the start of a life of increasing debauchery, Gray realising that the outward signs of this are apparent only in the portrait. Eventually the picture, secreted in his childhood playroom, becomes almost hideous to behold. But Gray still has one pure love - Gladys, the niece of the original painter.

Kids

Well, the first time I heard the name was in a James Blunt song! Not like he explained who it was in the song.

"I guess it's time I run far, far away;
find comfort in pain,
All pleasure's the same:
it just keeps me from trouble.
Hides my true shape, like Dorian Gray.
I've heard what they say, but I'm not here for trouble.
It's more than just words: it's just tears and rain."

Petkal, he's the girly sounding bloke who sings "You're Beautiful".

And hey! I resent that last comment by Dave. :p I liked him before they began to overplay "You're Beautiful" in Sweden. Then they had to choose "Goodbye my lover" as the next single & overplay it as well. Sigh, at least I got "Billy" in peace. And I saw him perform in Stockholm in Feb. Was ok.

Almost 700 views, but on (at the time I voted) 39 votes? What the matter, a little intimidated?

I voted "contented". If I were a bird, and I felt a little intestinal discomfort, I'd just decorate someone's windshield (or windscreen), problem solved. So it's not indigestion. I'm guessing that if I were a bird and I felt any kind of strong emotion (assuming that as a bird I could experience emotions and not just react to instincts), I'd probably show some signs of agitation - wing fluttering, strutting, pecking, you know -- birdy stuff. So that eliminates depression and joy. So I'm just hangin' out and chillin', to use the vernacular of today's urban US constituency.

I might be wrong, but, hey, I'm a bird-brain. What the heck do I know.

I can see it now ... ' Yes, Mrs A our in depth analysis here in the shop shows that you do have skin on your facial areas and that the only way to keep it lookin' so good y'all is to buy this expensive face gloop I am sellin'.

There is an ambiguity in my classification; I accept that. It may be that society does not have a term for women 20+ that embraces bonhomie, craic and informality. I am prepared to add a term if you girls can propose one that is acceptable. It would be a great contribution.

all tools buddy.. and non of them invalid... not a one. Not a point and shoot camera not a thirty year old MF lens that can be had for fifteen bucks... Not a walmart print or a two thousand dollar piece of glass or a free download for RAW processing.. all tools. all to be used and respected for what they are and what they are capable of.. regardless of which ones you pick up and make use of.. If tastes run to perfect glass and large JPEG files with perfect white balances and beautiful 100% crops. wonderful good for you... valid photograher's decisions.. If tastes run to fast primes and RAW shooting with hours pouring over white balances and creating the artistry after the shutter goes off good photographer's choice.. Equally valid... dang cameras... look as technical as can be but still just glorified paint brushes... all to be used as individually as everyone wants them to be....

I find nothing wrong with a little "girly talk" every once in a while. It helps build one's empathetic sense.

I agree that many can't bear the thought of being wrong, but it's not because they're so competitive. It's because of the attempts in today's western society to make sure everyone wins. Every little snot has to make the sports team or have a part in the school play no matter how hapless. In the days of true competition, we accepted the fact that there would be winners and losers. Nowadays, that's too much for many of our liberal minds to bear.

Keep runnin' son or dem Liberals will hug 'n love y'all to death! Like the Klan did in those good ol' 'competitive days  ... and you may or may not have a point, but as we don't have evidence here either way it's all academic. However, it could just be that folks here are so uncompetitive that they can't bear the thought of being right :p

Ok, the bird is shown in macro-like close up to enable those who feel they have empathy for others to identify his/her current mood (birds are people too!!) There will be no clues and no correspondence will be entered in to. . . . .
INSTRUCTIONS:

(1) You will look at the bird
(2) You will 'project' yourself into his 'shoes'
. . . .
. . . . .

Birds wear no shoes and thus there is nothing for me to project myself into.
BTW, at this point the bird has now also become a "he," negating the beginning equation, perhaps. I look forward to reading the correct answer.

As for the "no shoes" thing- I am rather oppositional and do poorly on multiple choice exams/surveys if they are inconsistent or do not offer the exhaustive array of responses. Probably comes from writing too many survey instruments, I guess.

I ended up going to watch "Bridget Jones 2" after he left. LMAO Mom thought I was sad when I got home, but I really wasn't. I just laughed and told dad I'd stick to guys my own age in the future...
