John, I was just looking at this set of your images and a set of mine and trying to compare and contrast (as they used to say in high school back when it was OK to to such things) and I am wondering if your place has spotlights. The casino has four quite brilliant spotlights mounted on a platform at the back of the Samala Room near the ceiling each with an operator connnected by a radio headset. Is there anything like that a Penn's?

I love these pics they are awesome, you caught some really good expressions/moments from the set. I really like 2 and 5. Great!

cool man
are that lot still going?! that vocalist doesn't look like Seb Bach! I recognise Rachael (weird name for a bloke) on bass and Scotti Hill on gee-tarr.

Yes Dwight, same deal here...we have three huge spotlights above the rear balcony seats...the are manned by two or three, wired attendants, when actually used...Solo, big name artists (like, Kenny Rogers, Bobby Vinton, Randy Travis or Tanya Tucker) get to use them...bands get the remote operated half dozen mounted above the stage...Every employee in the house, outside of the kitchens or bars is wired with a head set, ie: management, stage hands and all security guards and attendants...
Penn's Peak is wired for video monitoring, filming and recording from monitoring/control booths...It is owned by Pencor Corporation... Pioneers of fiber optic cable...Pencor owns a few TV stations, are North East Pennsylvania's Cable/Digital Cable Service providers...they produce daily TV programs... their company PennTeleData, are the regional digital and wireless Internet Service Providers and are now getting into radio...They also own the Times News a local newspaper, published six days per week...It's a Privately Owned Company with deep, local family roots in the business...

Thanks Rachel...
I got there nearly three hours earlier to get the best out of general admission tickets...the pit was sold out, so I sat stage side...That's how I was able to get those two close ups...

Thanks DigiTra,
I used a lens Dwight McCann recommended for my type of venue shooting...the Canon 85mm 1.8...The venue won't allow extended lenses...

This info is from their web site:Johnny Solinger (Vocals), Snake Sabo (Guitar), Dave Gara (Drums), Scotti Hill (Guitar) and Rachel Bolan (Bass)...
It's unclear about the situation of Sebastian Bach...the venue show program, just mentions that he isn't with the band since approx. 1991...

Yeah, I hear you on that one, blonde,
Sebastian Bach, got a lot of coverage during his reign as the lead vocals man...Johnny Sollinger, the current lead vocals singer, does an exceptional job...I just don't follow individual band histories in great detail...and Sebastian faded by with time...

Thanks for the Heads Up CyberDyneSystems,
What, and spook myself silly every time I try to post a reply?
Actually, if it wasn't for the make up and the act, He would pass as just the ordinary guy on the street...
There are a couple of other pics of this guy that might be even spookier looking...
However, I don't have a release from these guys...do you really think it's OK to use his photo as an avatar?
I tried to use a picture of Ted Nugent's Band that I photographed for my personal use, back in July, and someone erased Ted Nugent's head of my avatar on this forum...the erasure tracked all the way back, to my photo album on my hard drive...and all of the same picture duplicates had the same erasures...

I know, it was freaky...It happened within just a couple of hours after I posted my avatar...
I just assumed it was one of the moderators...
besides, the figure wasn't even 3/4's of an inch... and Ted's head, cowboy hat and long hair was a fraction of that...
I took all of the pictures for personal use only, as the venue rules state, "for personal use only"...I assumed no one would even recognize the band to begin with...

Sebastian Bach is still rocking it, I saw him and his new band, he put on an absolutely excellent show.
he was opening with Papa roach for G&R,
2 weeks ago at the St Pete Times forum in Tampa, Sebastian was awesome sounded really good and got the crowd pumped, Papa Roach were kind of a let down though, But G & R man, Axel is still a whiney B itch when he wants to be, but it was an excellent concert, really really good, I would definitely see Guns and Roses again.

I envy you John.. Sabastian Bach is a great guy, im glad to see him still rockin around the country. Used to hang out with all the "hair" rockers in the 80's when I was working the clubs in hollywood. The only photos I have of those days are in my head.
Your photography is something I look forward to.

I needed some positive feed back and encouragement...You guys in this forum are great...
So now, I'll just go ahead and book some more shows for the spring right away...It's mostly general admission for most shows, so it's the pit, if it's offered or just general admission...
Jefferson Starship w/ Special Guest Quicksilver Messenger Service are going to be here in mid February...
LA Guns, Fire House, Warrant are arriving in Mid-March...
Thanks Gary...I really appreciate the feedback...
I lived in Burbank/Glendale with an office in Woodland Hills back in 1992-93...I have some HS friends staring in TV and Movies...

I have to comment on #5... the lighting is really too hot and blown out on the guitarist's face... but it works for this shot. It looks really awesome. I think that can be attibuted to the fact that the photo is composed really well... really sharp. Nicely done.
