October 28th in Hollywood there was a "March for Peace" that attracted about 3 to 5 thousand participants. It was keynoted by Arun Gandhi, the grandson of India's Mahatma Gandhi.

I was surprised by the wide range of ages represented. In contrast to the Peace Marches in the 60's that fell pretty much along generational lines, this one included people that could have actually been at the marches in the 60's. And their children.

This man brought his son.

Any thoughts? Which one works better?

In my opinion, establishing the mood is critical for this scene. It is usually easier to establish the mood in Monochrome than in color.

I think monochrome suits the image best.

When I first viewed these the monochrome was my choice, but the more I look I also really like the color one. Old Glory really stands out.

Go mono, justified by the extra light in the face alone.

...and maybe clone off the litter on camera right of his leg asap.

I prefer the color.

I prefer the mono. And, yes, clone off the trash:o)

I prefer the first one, the colors are top notch.

I prefer the colour image. However, I find the yellow in the construction area at the top of the frame quite distracting. If it were me, I would desaturate that part only.

I know some dont like the selective coloring technique, but this image might look very good with either just the flag in color or all of the man (including the flag).

As they are, I really like them both, but the black and white is just a little moodier...so B and W for me.

I usually don't like "Selective Color", as is usually calls attention to itself. But after playing with the shot for a while, I think that I was able to do it subtly. Keeps the color, but draws attention to the subject. What do you think?

Yes I thought the same... tried it but didn't like it, I definately pic the B+W version

EDIT: Here is a version of just the flag... I think it draws attention to the flag rather than the whole subject, I like Rad's version of the selecting colouring better but I think there is no point in the selective colouring because there isn't much colour in the background anyway but I still pick the B+W Version
