Exhibition Index question - groups and styles

I hope this is not too stupid a question, although knowing my luck it probably is!

I set up an exhibition group as I have 2 exhibitions that are both related to my fave hobby (scuba) Is it possible to have the other exhibitons display as they used to before I added the group, rather than just a one line description, under "unsorted exhibitions"? or is it the case that once you add a group, you really have to put them all in a group (or groups).

I guess I could create a group "per exhibition" for those that dont fall under a good grouping.

Also are there different styles for the main exhibitions page? I was wondering if it was easy enough to order the exhibitions horizontally across the page rather than vertically?

In Misc settings editor you have "index pages settings" and there "columns".

Re the Column view, I must have looked at that page a dozen times without noticing it! Sorry for asking an obvious question.

As a bit of a clumsy workaround on my site I put my 'Miscellaneous' exhibition into a group of the same name. At least that way I can still display random thumbs and the index page layout is better.

Thanks for the tip, I thought about that, but for now I won't use exhibition groups, I dont have too many exhibitions just yet.

As space is not a problem (its my own server), I am looking at putting loads of stuff up in the future. One of the groups will become a sort of scuba club archive with somewhere to keep the bucketloads of club photos we have accumulated over the years. I will want to keep it organised at some stage.

I might however set up another copy of ee and keep it all seperate if it gets out of hand!
