Glad to hear you went back and took care of him. I am always on the lookout for one of these . I know several birders who have seen them, I read reports of them being seen, I now see your image and I wonder when I will finally get the opportunity. A fantastic and tiny little owl and this one looks pretty healthy. They are known to be very tame and chickadees will mob them much like crows mob Great Horned or Barred owls. Thanks for sharing the story and photos. Did he fly off or did he perch and eventually leave?

What a cutie. I hope you took him back to his area. :)

It flew right into my car grill and must have got knocked senceless. I went home and got a flashlight and went back to find if it was ok. It was still laying there. It spent the night in a empty fish aquarium with my intentions of bringing it to the vets the next day if I saw any trauma, which thankfully I did not.He was very calm and just watched me whenever I looked in on him. I took him back to where he ran into me and he flew right out and off.He/she was no bigger then a mans fist and I swear weighed not much more then a parrakeet. Ive lived here in the valley almost all my life and thats the first Ive ever seen of this species.

Awwww, that is too darn cute. I hope it is alright and good of you to have looked after it. The Saw-Whet is one of my favourite owls.

This is an excellent story and a good ending, and good thinking in taking the shots of the bird to go along with your story, well done
