new.. looking for help on settings?

Anyone who could help would be great. i got a elan 7e last week. when i take photos, the subjects great but background blurred. what setting do you use the most? Iassume its the speed and apperture. :cry:

Short answer: Either get further away from your subject or close down the aperture on your lens (make the aperture number larger).

Longer answer: Sounds like a classic example of wide open aperture. Try googling "depth of field" for some help.
