Amazon has the S400 for $369 with free shipping and a free 64MB CF card (or a $25 discount on a larger card):

Anyone know if this is a good deal or should I wait for a few more weeks.

Its a good price. Do a sanity check at a couple of other places - last time I looked, the S-400 was going for about $450 US, with the standard 32 meg CF card.
I've not had any problems with Amazon. They have delivered reliably from books to handheld GPS systems.

I found that deal also. I decided to take it up. You can apply the $30 for the 64 MB and upgrade to a bigger card and pay the difference. My total was $399.79 shipped with the 256 MB card. The camera is on route but the card will ship a week later....
I can't tell you guys how relieved I felt just buying A camera. I was completely confused on what to get: 5 MP v 4 MP, Compact or Subcompact, S50 or S45 or A80 or S400 or Fujicera S700 or Kyocera S5R or the Minolta Dimage G500 or Pentax S4, etc etc etc. The price range is too wide and there are too many choices. All in all the memory 'deal' and the size of the camera with the price was too good to pass up.

That's excellent. I really like my 400. It is great outdoors, and does very nice macro. Its only weakness (which is common on small cameras) is the flash range, but as long as you know the limitations of it, you'll be fine.
The little camera travels with me most of the time. I take it nearly everywhere.
That 256 meg card will give you about 130 full-sized top-quality JPEG pictures on the S-400. Smaller images or compressed images will give you even more, though I almost always shoot at the camera's best.

Just got the camera. With the MLK holiday, I didn't know if I'd get it this soon. Now, I have to waith while the battery charges. Any links on photography links with this or any point and shoot cameras? I saw the photo.net article which was really good....

Should be charged in about 2 hours. Best thing to do while you're waiting is look through the manual. The menu function list on pages 42-43 is a good guide to finding all of the cool functions within the camera.
Search around here as well for other posters' questions and answers to specific issues.

Good choice of camera. I started with the Ixus400 (S400) in the summer and payed much more than that for it (I do live in the UK however!). Just starting to miss some manual functions now I'm getting more into photography so might need to start saving again soon. For some info on the camera workings have a look at the reply by Till in the following topic to this forum. I have found it very useful:

Many other posts here too. Try a search on the S400 or Ixus.
Good luck

Excellent link, Andy. Till's post is filled with good information. I'm going to paste it into a word doc.
