View Full Version : I am Turning 5,000 Today !

No, that's not a Hollowteen Count Dracula reference, we are talking about the POTN postcount.
The "big question" is: "Will the title change from the present one to the <creamer> happen in the auto mode or not ?"

I suspect in the absence of a manual intervention by mud-areators, the post counter will flip a little V-Bulletin program line which will pick up the <creamer> title.

I am also trying not to succumb to the pressure of general expactations to make the post 5000 somehow special either in rethorics or images. So after 4999 do watch it....you might find the following post rather interesting. In esssence, I have two choices. The lazy one but pregnant with phylosophycal meaning, which is to say NOTHING.....the self-negation par excellence. The other much more laborious option would be to regale you with a collective portrait of several POTN friends of mine.....obviously, something like it has never been seen on POTN before.

Missing some old friends here though. Bob Gross an avid animalia identifier. Sean Macro, a remarkable people shooter and jester. Dimitri, the master of zoo portraits. Tlee, a talented boy from Surrey. Dante the King of L. Mitcon the Birdmaster, and a few more.

However, a few one-year-old friends are still around...like Connie-duck, Dante the Subdued, Lightrules aka Unstoppable F. Jojo, Ronald Sr.Jr., MD Jak, and a couple of new ones like that crafty Fin Olligarchy and a very singular farm fotographer on colours.... Maria. Also, lest we forget, there is that new kid on the clock the formidable Permagin aka Parmegian whose firecracking wit, intuition and warmth have sustained my enfeebled last-mile quest towards the 5k finish line.

It would be totally disingenious of me if I were to tell you POTN thought me a great deal about photography, for POTN is very young and I am old. Besides, I still know very little about photography to start with. However POTN has given me much loughter, prank-time and fooling around ......like you would not believe......to me that has been much more important than adding 500 "Nice Capture" or "Nice Pic" feathers to my cap.

Yeah, in case you are a curious type, this is my first and only self-portrait on POTN. Hand held pens, no PP done on it, straight outta digital scanner.

It'll be changed to "El Geritol Creamer", I reckon.

You won't be let off lightly, that's for sure...!

Today? You have 77 posts to go! You think you can do that in one day?

And, no it won't change automatically. Mine didn't. I became Cream of the Crop a couple days ago, just after my honorary title was bestowed on me.

Tommy, I could do 76 "Nice image" or "Watcha drinkin" posts in a couple of hours. But obviously I shall not.

well dear man.. another milestone that only those of us spending countless hours following eachother around POTN could really understand.. and an achievment in itself to reach the creamery status.. however if you do happen to lose you title I will be a bit sad... But, perhaps a sprucing up in honor of the occasion is called for..

Only 63 left to go Peter ;)

I am sure that a psychologist would have aninteresting view on your 'should I or should I not make a big thing of this' stance!

But hey, I'm just glad you're around to lighten the place up when it gets dull round here.
