Had someone experience with the Sigma 12-24mm F4,5-5,6 and an Canon 10D. I want to purchase a wide-angel zoom in this dimension an tray to find out some information about this lens or similar lenses.

You want to get wide but are you sure you need a zoom? If you have a 17-40 you wouldn't even consider using the Sigma in the 17-24mm range because the 17-40 is sooo much better. So the 12-24 boils down to a 12-16 zoom. You don't really need a zoom for that. A wide prime would do the job better. Just step closer if the angle of view is too large.

I went through the same decision process (I even tried the Sigma 12-24 for a day) a month ago and ended up with a Sigma 15/2.8 fisheye. It is much sharper, way more flare-resistant, faster, smaller and lighter that the zoom. It is as wide as the rectilinear 12mm horizontally and you can decide later how much defishing you want or if you need to defish it at all.
Get rid of any prejudices against fisheyes by reading my post on the DPR forum:

Go wide and have fun!

I've been having this lens for a short time, but my experience is still too limited to give any good advice. Instead, here's a couple of pointers you might find useful when making your decision.
