Oi. Its almost november...febuary is only 4 (ish) months away! AND AND AND the holiday season is in between! I am proposing a repeat of febuary's trip! I would love to see all of you again! I had so much fun back in feb, and i think this time, we could have even MORE fun. The way i see it...if we start planing now. by the time feb. is here...it should run smoothly! (not that it didnt). Lemme know if any of you are interested!!!!!!!

Hopefully we will be having another one in febuary. The one we had this past feb, as in Cambria/Morro Bay California (San Luis Obispo area). It was a blast. Hopefully we can get enough people together for one this coming feb.!

If one got busted its probably from storing it in the same case as a large and messy bird. I mean, what where you thinking. They would be much better off in a sturdy and well padded plastic camera case.

Mat: If you want to select a couple of locals that we could choose from, I would be more than happy to help get another POTN meet going for Feb. We should pick an alternate date as well, in case of rain.
Where would you like to go? I would love to spend another day/weekend with all of you guys!

I ran into this tread by accident...while looking for CP filters!!!
Glad to know that there will be a CA. get together in Feb.
I will have to check back and see where or when ! I am in SJ and just got back from SLO. Beautiful area, along with Monterey and Yosemite. My only thought is that there could be quite abit of snow in Yosemite in Feb. Couldn't there? How many days would this get together be planned for? Anyone know?

Margie, I expect something like a three day weekend where you could come early and stay late ... these things are VERY informal, friendly, supportive, helpful, welcoming and most of all flexible and there is a great diversity among the participants in equipment, politics, age, sex, children, race and common sense (oh, and avatars!)
Since not everyone is enamored of rustic living or snow I will guess that it will be somewhere on the coast, as last year, but I am not proposing anything as we have a truck camper and can get to and camp at about anywhere you can drive ... and we have a furnace in it. :-)

How about a ittle farther north like Monterrey? If the weather doesn't co-operate, we can always rely on the aquarium. There is also Bubba Gumps and the 17 Mile Drive.....

He's a real "people person" and will talk anyone's ear off. He's quite entertaining as well. When his mother came to get him today she started in with 'mother talk'. After a few minutes, Aaron looked up at her and said "You are driving me nutz!"

Gold Hat is featured in the mpg linked on Mike's sig..."Badges. We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges"
The real tin foil hat wearers will remain nameless. :) ;)

Maureen...Italy and Greece, great! I went to Portugal, Spain and England in the spring. It helped me a lot too. I have some of the photos from my trip on my BP gallery.
Have you taken any more classes over there? I am signed up for one in Jan. 07, Brenda Tharp " Creating Visual Impact". I think she will be a good instructor also. Tammy may also be taking the class.

I'll put my vote in for Monterey. Lots to see with the aquarium and plenty of good eats. The only thing is, this time I'm not going to sit with Ashley, she hogs all the food. Aaron is always welcome, as long as he shares the crayons. And Dwight better bring a camera that works, or a lens, or a Pelican case full of bragging rights.
BTW, date wise, late February, preferably early March.
DwightMcCann

I hope one of three bodies will work. Who knows what else I'll have by then ... surely not me! I've got a few fast small primes and some Kata raingear on my equipment list for next year but I am really hoping Canon will come out with a new FF Pro body in the spring. The 400mm f/2.8 won't fit in the Pelican case so it travels in its own Canon case ... but it will certainly be available for test driving.
Oh, Cyb, I expect we'll have some bicycles with us this time but we may be limited by accommodations for Anna ... her seat fits on my Rock Hopper but not on Stump Jumper or OCR1. We'll see. But you can always come visit!

Hey guys and gals.... I was thinking about an activity we might all enjoy and came up with thishttp://www.lakesanantonio.net/
There is a large group of Bald Eagles that migrate here for the winter and the park does daily eagle tours. Anybody interested? Thanks, I did see that on the website. I will need to check on accessibility on the boat when I call for reservations.

San Antonio is a GREAT lake to go cruising on. We take our pontoon boat out there in the summer and cruize up and down the lake. Im really looking forward to the get together this year!

Anybody else going? The boat holds up to 60 people. They don't cancel for rainy weather but we could always decide to go to Monterey Bay Aquarium if the weather is lousy.

I got some Kata raingear for my camera that I need to try out. We have reservations at RV park and for the boat. So, just us and the Souza's?

Anne and I are good to go. The boat ride is not in the cards for me but I'm pretty sure;) there will be plenty of other stuff to shoot. We will arrive in plenty of time to see everyone off and champagne waiting for the return.

I was in that area a few days ago (elephant seal preserve) and those smelling, burping, birthing animals didn't really hold my attention for too long (really dull subject...literally).
So what exactly do you do there besides shoot bald eagles. I get bored quickly and with 59 other L toting, ISO skimping, canon junkies who are trying to outdo each other trying to shoot birds from a boat... won't keep me entertained enough!!!
And Kata rain gear??? I aint got nothing like that...I am bringing a garbage bag (If I can convince some other L toting canon jukie to join me, I aint driving alone for 3 hours to shoot no eagles)
Will there be food? What happens if no eagles show up? Most L toting photogs are ugly and there is no way in hell my IS and fluorite lens will make you look pretty (hey the camera never lies). :)
You kids need to provide a bit more detail of what usually happens when you folks get together. I cant believe you L coholics don't have pics of your last meet.

Try looking at the photos from the First annual California POTN get together. (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=127693&page=27)
We had a great time, eating, drinking and just hanging out.

This is not a mandatory staff meeting. You are not required to show up.
We have had a couple of get togethers and guess what? We actually enjoy each other's company. How boring is that?

I've been to three POTN get-togethers so far, and it's never been a competition. Nobody cares if they get a better shot than anyone else. Also, not everyone is toting L...
Try it sometime. You might find you actually have a good time and won't be so negative in the future. The people here are great company, whether you're shooting a camera or just shooting the breeze.

We would love to have you come but we will not be entertaining you. So, while I cannot imagine being bored with Maureen around, your mileage may vary ... and if you are as risk averse as you sound you may be better off sitting at home on your couch watching TV!

I can't tell you where the photos start, but I'm having fun reading through that old thread again... :D  I'm up to page 32 now. Still pre-trip discussion there.

Well, if all fails, we can follow gjman around and photograph him as he slaps ice cream cones out of the hands of children for entertainment.

Naaah I will get my jollies by watching 59 L-coholics trying to frame an eagle from a rocking boat and wondering WHY they cant seem to frame the bird correctly. I am easily amused (just as easliy bored) and slapping ice-creams off children's hand does not qualify as amusement (for you maybe).
Wait does this mean I am actually invited? (only to be tied to cinder blocks and thrown off the boat?)
