This isn't generally my style - but I took this one cold, cloudy morning, and it said "lots of contrast, black and white, grimy shot". So I tried quickly and now I have to go to work! ;)
But here it is, CC or edits, comments always welcome, requested, appreciated, etc. Thanks! Enjoy,

It's not bad at all, the picture is well framed with a tigh crop and it is a "Grim Playground". What I don't like is the vertical banding in the picture, did you add a filter of some kind in the process? Also think this might be a good subject for selective color, these plastic crowns must be very colorful.
Cheers

Hey, thanks! Yes, the vertical banding is a result of my own attempts at a dirty holga-ish filter, I tried quickly one morning before work and had to rush out.
Perhaps I can give it a go with my layers, I think fortunately this time I didn't just save a jpeg file. As for the selective coloring, I'm not sure if I still have a color original *doh* - so I can't selective color on a b/w - or can I but I don't know how as I am still a PS newbie?
Thanks for your post!

I like this shot, it seems like everything is all crammed togeather, but in a good way. Nice work with the vertical bands, it gives the image a uniqe feeling.
What exactly is that picture of? Thats why I think I like it so much, i dont know what in the world it is i'm looking at. :D

Thanks! I did try playing with the vertical bands, but I don't know if I like it as much without them there at all, though perhaps lessened a bit - I find they add a bit of...something, to the shot. Different strokes, folks, etc. So I'll keep playing. What is this? Well, that's a fine question. It was on the edge of a school playground, the half wavy half spiky plastic rims are...well, I'm not sure what they are, but the angle at which I faced them when I set up the shot made them look interesting, kind of abstract, menacing a little bit, but cool. It is a tight squeeze, but the subject looks like it could burst from the frame a bit if it wanted to. ;)
Unfortunately I still haven't answered your question - except of what they were a part of - not for playing in, so...hmm. Thank you. :) Peace

I like it...I'd up the contrast a little, but that's just me.

it does look like a holga, except for the sharpness ;)

Except for the sharpness...ah! I see! Yeah, I guess I didn't take into account the softness that some holga pictures really have...
Interesting you'd say that about the contrast, Wes, because I wasn't sure if I'd already made it too contrasty. But thanks for saying that, I'm always open to ideas for shots. :)
cgratti, I think you gave it an interesting description! I wouldn't have thought it myself, but looking at it, it does bare (no pun, no pun) some resemblance to some kind of snare, or teeth of some sort.
