What is meant by a "100% Crop"?
I've seen this in descriptions of images in sharing forums and don't get it. I would think a 100% crop would be the whole image?

100% crop means that an image was saved at its original size (such as 2272 X 1704 pixels) but the image shown on the screen is a portion of the original image cropped down to whatever size is shown on the screen. The advantage is that such a crop at 100% magnification will show the image in a condition where it's easier to see faults and problems. Normally, a full-sized digital picture is way too large to fit on the screen, so a 100% image is cropped to show the quality of the picture as if it were your own picture enlarged to its actual pixel size.
I hope this helps - it's sometimes hard to put these things into words.

Do this. Open up your favorite picture in an editing program.
Zoom in so you are seeing the picture in actual size (100%).
Crop a small part of it, say a central 4 inch X 4 inch square.
You now have a 100% crop, since the 4X4 square contains the part of the picture as you would have seen it if you had zoomed in to 100% total image size.
