Very moody, I love it! Everything just draws you into the photo. I didn't even notice the person at first.
Awesomely dramatic! (is that a word? awesomely??)

didnt notice the person until i read 98photo's remark.
very nicely done, it looks like one of those 50's clips when they want to add a dramatic scene in a movie

Yes it is, using mostly chanel mixer for converting to b&w one setting for the sky and others for land water and trees. Gald you like it.
Thanks for all the nice comments everybody :)
Here is a version in respect of the rule of thirds thing ;)

Excellent!! Very nice, indeed. This is one of those images that just begs to be hung on a wall.

Which one do you prefer the first one with the centered horizon or the cropped version?
Thanks for all the comments folks :)

They are both very good, but I would vote for the second.

I like the photo. The horizon is a bit off, but other than that, the B&W conversion is spot on.

Excellent photo! Didn't notice the person either before I read the first comment :) I really like your B&W conversion.

I prefer the first one as the rocks in the foreground are a good element to lead me into the picture.

Very beautiful AV! I like it a lot - particularly the mood it expresses. And I love the person in frame. :)
Even though I tend to prefer horizons off the center, I prefer the first one because of those fabulous foreground rocks. Would like to see even more of them (lower camera angle).

I prefer the first one... the ground AND sky are interesting enough to share the picture equally!

Thanks Athena,
Giving equal importance to sky and land here seems to be working.
Rule of thirds, made to be broken sometimes. ;)
Cheers
To answer your question hamtheman, I used the Canon 10-22mm with polarizing filter if I remember correctly.
Thanks for comments. :)

Suggestion of thirds. lol

I have this lens and a polarizer for it too. How come I don't get results this good from it? ;)

Works best if you set camera to B&W mode ;)
Now I'm not to sure it was the polarizer because I see a lot of reflection on the water. That day I took many pictures with polarizer, gradient filter and no filter at all. Here is the original.
Cheers :)
