Some thoughts...

... If you had taken that picture at her level, the look on her face might be interpretted as merely pensive, maybe even curious.

From the angle from which you did take the picture it reads to me more like fear.

When shooting children, it is generally wise to get down as low as they are, to shoot them directly on. It is hard on the knees, yes, but the results are well worth it.

That said, when you do want to convey certain moods, by all means, shoot from the angle that you did.
