I actually prefered this crop to the original full shot, a bit too much noise in the background of the full shot.

May I ask what equipment you used, and the particulars (shutter speed, iso, aperture, etc.)?

Excellent shot. Been trying to do something like that for a while, but I always wind up goofing it up, somehow.

Again, great capture.

Camera Make: Canon
Camera Model: Canon EOS 300D DIGITAL
Image Date: 2006:08:24 18:31:53
Flash Used: Yes (Manual)
Focal Length: 43.0mm
CCD Width: 6.08mm
Exposure Time: 0.0050 s (1/200)
Aperture: f/5.0
ISO equiv: 100
White Balance: Manual
Metering Mode: Matrix

Add to the list a tripod and lots of luck, also about 50 shots and pick out the best.
Lens was the 18-55mm kit lens.

Hey, great! Thanx for the info. Now I've got something to try this weekend. :)

This is probably an old thread, but as I was trying to do some water splash shots, I was getting discouraged. I kept thinking that I would need a better lens to get a nice shot but this shot is done with basic equipment. Back to work for me.

PS, Yodasarmpit: I'm assuming that this took many tries to get the right splash.

Really cool. I think it would hahve been better had you got more of the top and bottom of the water into the image though. I know you said above there was too much noise tho. Just my penny's worth...

I like it, but think the crop is a bit too tight. This kills a bit the dynamics of the water drops.

cheers
