My parents brought back this keychain from their trip to the Philippines. Once I saw it, I knew it could be a good photo op. Yes, a knife does pop out.
C&C, as always, is welcome and encouraged. My only gripe is that the DOF did not catch the end of the gun. I'm very satisfied with the conversion though.

I really like the lighting and tonality on this, but the chain bugs me. Maybe if it were incorporated somehow, or better still would have been to take it off if you can.
Nonetheless I like it.

The conversion is very well done. I would have to see the original, though, as I'm wishing for more black. I may very well be wrong and you might have rendered the object true.
Did you use flash? Perhaps underexposing by a stop or two would bring out the blacks better.

Thanks for the comments Rich. What bothers you about the chain? I see it as something that sets the subject in its place, really defines it as a keychain. On the other hand, I do agree that it can be a bit distracting. I did try to remove it before I took the shot but saw that it wasn't possible.

I did use the flash, had the FEC set on +1 EV since I was bouncing off of a close curtain. I'm a bit confused though, what do you mean by more black? Do you mean from the conversion or from the exposure?
Here are some originals Mark:
color, underexposed by -1/3 from original shot:

straight B&W conversion, no duotone like in the original shot:
