View Full Version : Alas, poor Erik. I know him well (oh and a self portrait)

I've left my studio gear at a friend's house two hours west, so unfortunately I've been stuck with plumbing the archives to practice my post processing on. Here's two shots, from a while ago that I just processed. I'm particularly happy with the shot of Erik (in the red) but I'm interested to hear what everyone's comments are.

These look great overall - the first has a little bit of the red cast that seems indicative of an overlay and/or luminance blended color mixing layer, as well as some slight haloing around the left side of his face that I seem to get when I use an overly soft brush on my burning layers. I like the treatment of the tones in these images - this is something I've been working on as well :).

Thanks alot guys. I'm getting to a point where I'm really starting to be able to control the effect and bring out more of the original lighting than I could originally do before. I'm pretty happy with the effect thus far at any rate.

With any luck I'll get my equipment dropped off tommorow (left it at someone's house because it was too much to take to a friend's house afterwards) and be able to put this to use on some new shots.

codex0 - Thanks for the insight man. The red is just the colour balance, something I've been playing around with a bit since colour management is something I'm really trying to experiment with lately as it's been neglected up until now in my workflow. I did fix up the halo around the jawline but it might take some time for pbase to update, I appreciate you catching that for me though.

And yeah, the processing is more or less the same, just with a few tweaks here and there :)
