Too distracting.

The white on white foreground and background doesn't do anything for me.

I would've used flash to evenly illuminate that statue. It'll also add more pop to it......

Oh well.

I like your idea, but its covered in shadow too much. what im looking for is texture created by the shadows.

Does the sun, hit it from a side angel?? maybe a little before sunset.
Also black and white might help here. Close up pics or the angle holding the kid, different sides instead of front shot.
many possibilites.

you might have it extra hard because of the extreme white. it will fool you meter reading.

good luck

I think the perspective is really the only big mistake here. Maybe if you went for a much tighter shot from a lower perpective, concentrating on the upper half of the sculpture with only the mountains, snow and some sky in the background, and expose to open up the details of the sculpture a little more. Try to almost fill the frame with the top half of the sculpture. It would help tremendously to walk up to the sculpture and get a meter reading from a gray card right in front of the sculpture, then expose for that reading, but bracket a stop in either direction.

Well .. maybe becuase I used to be into downhill big time .. I want to get to the hill. So there are 3 unrelated images here (hill, snow sculpture, lamps). Could this be too busy?
