Is the A620 capable of producing beautiful 8x10 photographs, or would I be better off going with a SLR for this? Or is it not the camera but the photographer, technique, etc. that produces the quality larger prints?

It's more than capable of doing 8x10s.

I did a 16x20 with my s2is. That was slightly pushing it. But several feet away it looks fine. Just make sure you have your resolution at the highest and the compression at the lowest.

at M2 (mediuw 2) resolution, A620 can print up to letter-size prints and A4-size prints.

It will be fine use the highest resolution and the highest guality settings so you can crop as needed.
Iv done 8x10s with cropped 4MP images that turned out kicken.

I printed a rather amazing 8x10 from a Kodak CX4300 several years ago. It's still hanging on the wall, framed. It only had 3.2MP and no manual controls. An A620 would definitely be capable.

I have a A620 and have made some very nice 8x10's with no problems at all.

Thanks for your replies. Do you use a photoshop program to sharpen the photo, etc.? I am used to just printing off 4x6's of my family and friends but I am interested in getting into some photography of flowers which hopefully will look nice framed on my walls!
