View Full Version : S2 Reverse Display - Upside down?

I am the new owner of an S2. Seems great so far, just one thing I am having trouble figuring out.
When the LCD is turned toward the front of the camera the image is still upside-down. I have turned the feature on and off, I think. (Do you have to save this setting?) Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong?
This is not that important to me, but I'd like to know if it is functioning properly.
Thanks a lot!

Hi, and welcome.
That would be the "reverse display" function, and it should also flip the image from right to left as well as top/bottom when you've turned the LCD screen 180 degrees to the front. The default setting is "on," so if you haven't made too many changes to your settings it's easy to restore by holding the menu button down for 5 seconds to restore all defaults.
I'm not certain if that's one of the function settings that has to be saved with the "set" button or not. If you go back into the menu, and it's still set for "on" but the display doesn't reverse/flip, then it's possible the orientation sensor -- or whatever triggers the display change -- isn't working correctly. It's a convenience for self-portraits, but as you indicate, isn't necessarily a show-stopper if it isn't working correctly. Does the LCD work correctly if it's rotated around and then pushed back into the opening, rather than flipped out to the side?

Thanks RossW,
I will try your suggestions. Yes, it does work correctly when facing out from the back of the camera, just not when facing out from the front.
I'll try this and lyk what happens, thanks again!

Hmmm... that's odd, because it would have to flip "upside down" when it's set into the back of the camera -- you've already had to rotate it to do that. Turning it to the front would reverse it left/right compared to the rearward-facing orientation. So it sounds like it's flipping correctly part of the time, but not when reversing too. Hope it's just temporary.

Well, I reset to original settings. Also, before I did that I checked and it was set "on". Still upside down when facing forward. It actually flips upside down after it passes a certain point. I also see no difference between the "on" and "off" settings. I was hoping it was my error, but maybe not...

Okay, revision...
I hadn't noticed before, but upon close inspection I do noitce a difference. But, it is still upside down from the front.
So, if LCD is facing out from the back, then you slowly rotate it to be facing out from the front it first reverses from left to right and then after a tiny bit more it flips upside down. This with the function "on". With it "off" it doesn't reverse side to side only upside down.
