Hey folks, I've been lurking around the boards for a week or so trying to learn a thing or two (and being at least somewhat successful I believe). Now it's time to ask a quick question while I anxiously await the arrival of the D-Rebel I ordered a month ago. (!!??)

Does anyone have any experience with the RCA Lyra Audio/Video Jukebox? If so, what do you think of it?

For those who don't know, the Lyra A/V Jukebox is a 20GB portable HD with a color LCD screen that plays MP3s, DiVX movie files, and displays pictures. It also has a CF card reader built-in. It seems to me that this combination of features would be perfect for Canon D-SLR users, but I don't want to be the guinea pig if someone else has already had a bad experience with this product. ;-)

I appreciate ANY information you all have to offer. Hopefully I'll be able to repay the favor once I actually have a D-SLR to play with. Someone who lives near Cameratopia.com needs to run over and give them all a swift kick in the pants and tell them to put a rush on my order!

Guess it's time to polish up the lenses (again) so they'll be ready for the body. Keep up the good work, everyone!

I'm not an expert, nor do I have a Lyra but I've been doing some reading about them. Apparently RCA released an early (or late apparently) version of the Lyra without full functionality. I'm not sure of all the details but I have read that one restriction is that you can only upload one file at a time from a CF card. That makes it virtually useless for uploading/storing photographs.

Hope this helps,

Chris W

Yikes! That would be a serious drawback. Glad I didn't buy one before now. Thanks for the info!
