Sketcher, you beat me to it, but I'll post anyway. This looks like a small update to fix a specific issue with the LCD. From the site:
Correction of the LCD monitor display in firmware version 2.0.0
In the [INFO] screen where you can confirm the details of the camera’s settings, the Color Temperature option was not displayed in firmware version 2.0.0. This update corrects that.
In the case of an upgrade from firmware version 1.0.x to 2.0.0, the C.Fn (Custom Function) settings and the file numbers of images were cleared from the camera. They are not cleared in this version 2.0.1 firmware update.
Have Fun

They cleared my custom functions when I installed it today.

Now is the question:
What did they forget this time? :)
I'm still on version 1.0.1 because i don't need the pictbridge printing. I was glad that i didn't upgrade when i saw that they actually managed to remove some functions. And now with this upgrade they corrected something again. I think i'll wait..

I cant honestly answer that yet. The upgrade is supposed to fix some sort of problem with the LCD screen that I never noticed in the first place, and add the capability of displaying the light temperature in Kelvin, which I haven't seen yet either. I too had 1.0.1, which meant I was two versions behind already, and I've only had this camera a few months.
Maybe someone else that knows more about this can let us know?
The GOOD news is I dont have to send my camera in to Canon for this upgrade. My other DSLR is an Olympus E10, and to get its firmware upgraded, it HAD to be sent to a service center. After hearing all the horror stories of what happened to peoples cameras while there, I opted to NOT send it in, and it has lived a long happy life. In fact, I still have it, and it works fine.
I'm still real happy with my 10D though, does that count? :D

Well, if you don't upgrade:
- you always wonder whether your camera is misbehaving in some way that you haven't noticed, but
- if you read about someone whose camera has turned into a brick because they've contrived to f*** up the upgrade, you'll feel smug
If you do the upgrade:
- you'll be sick as a parrot, if you do have to return your camera to Canon because you turned it into a brick, but
- when the upgrade works, you'll have that comforting feeling of being up to date.
Personally, I always apply the firmware upgrades, partly because I'm not convinced that Canon are always totally open in their disclosure of what may be fixed by the upgrade. I've just applied the 2.0.1, which makes 5 or 6 firmware upgrades now in my DSLR-owning career that have completed without a hitch.

Indeed! I would rather upgrade and be sure that any fixes - even undisclosed ones - have been applied to my camera. :)

I applied the Firmware update w/in minutes of downloading it. Smooth, flawless update for me and none of my custom functions were changed.
As for the 'secret' updates that weren't disclosed... CALLING DR. CDS!! It will soon be time to start writing scrips for obecalp. Please post your perscription again if the black helicopters start circling

I've been running Microsoft software for too long, so I never apply updates unless I notice that something is broken, or if a worthwhile addition/change is done. Why take the chance of owning a $1500 brick if the camera worked fine for you?
Otherwise I agree completely with Roger. If you like the latest and greatest, do it. If you see no need, don't do it.
