HELP does anyone know how I can get hold of a instruction guide
for the Canon 380 EX flash unit. I brought one 2nd hand from
my local store, but it came without a guide.
Thanks

I have that flash and don't really think you are going to need an instruction book. It is a totally auto flash. Other than rotating the head around any flash compensation will be done in the camera's settings.

Daniel,
Could you tell me what the button does when you set it to the green
dot and when you set to the flash sign H.
Thanks

I don't have my manual with me here at work but I believe the green dot is where the switch should be in most cases. The H is for high-speed sync.

The green dot position is the normal mode. If you put the switch to the "H" position, high-speed synch flash is enabled, which allows you to use flash with faster shutter speeds.
The 380EX operates somewhat like the larger EX-series flashes.

Mark Mark,
Try Pbase for a manual, they had the 550 there so they may have the 380 also.

Laugh if you want but I just sold a 380ex before I decided on the 10D. At that time I wanted a Nikon D100 and thought I didn't need the 380ex. I still have the manual and will be glad to send it to you FREE. You can't beat the price. I will need your address though. How about e-mail me direct at Jzaun@netzero.com
