Anyone hear of Canon bringing out a EOS 3D? I heard that they may be bringing one out soon.. and it should be full frame and will not have the magnification factor of the 10D. I was hoping to see something but so far have not seen anything in the press except that Canon will be flooding the market with new digital cameras in 2004.

I have spoken to one of the lads from my local camera club and he
tells me that there may be one due out in the 2nd half of this year
that is why the 1D price has been slashed. It will replace he 1D not
the 10D though. Maybe you might get some more info from the
focus on image exihbition at the NEC at the end of Feb.

Tosh!
The update to the 1D is due for announcement at PMA2004 in mid-February - don't hold your breath for a FF based on the EOS3 though.

The PMA 1D replacement will be another 1v style body,. it will not be based on the stepped down Eos 3.

cyber is right.
It will definitely be 1v based as it is intended for news/sports journalists who want the ruggedness.FF is also extremely unlikely for the same reason-why on earth would a newspaper want 10+Mp images?
If it helps, the 10D is also very likely being upgraded too but don't expectFF there either. Not yet anyway

Canon has said that ALL consumer/prosumer camera will remain with APS (1.6) sized sensors. There will not be a FF 10D or Drebel. FF will be for pro cams only.

why on earth would a newspaper want 10+Mp images
To crop the interesting parts? And what about magazines?
Anyway there is a lot of guessing out on the net about Canons next SLR release. For what it is worth Canon seems to release Pro cameras around mayor events in the spring and consumer cameras also arround events in autumn (Photokina this year?).
So I hope for something between a 10D and a 1Ds (maybe a 3D with a full frame sensor???) May I drewl here?
Watch February 12 :!:

Why be hung up on the EOS3 body?
I believe that the 3 is a one-off, the start and end of the line, it does not make sense to add a fourth body to the DSLR range - the aim is to simplify and consolidate, not split, your sales
For the foreseeable future Canon DSLRS will be based around the 1D/Ds (Pro), 10D (Prosumer/semipro) and 300D (consumer) bodies.
The 10D is the 3 equivilant in the DSLR lineup, will never be FF (like the 300D will not be), the 1D/update will remain at 1.3x and the 1Ds/update at FF.

More of a general/financial newspaper article than a specialist piece of writing from a journalist who really knows the industry. Note that he thinks that the Canon to be updated is the 1Ds! and the rest of the article contains rather 'old' news for those who keep their eyes on the internet photo. news - this despite being datelined a day ahead of us here in the UK..................

How about the 1DS and the 1D! And a new wide zoom or two (one "L").

Not what I hear - the 1D update is the one.
As for lenses - anyones guess, I haven't heard anything concrete as I have for the 1D.

The lens specualtion I have heard is an IS version of the 400mm f/5.6 ?
But I think was "pure" specualtion,. though it does sort of make sense. :)

I would be suprised if canon brought out a 3D, canon have a good head start on its competitors and probably would continue upgrading there existing models.
Just enjoy your 10D amd 300D for a couple of years...happy shooting

I wish that I could afford a new camera every year!
Personally I intend to replace my 10D around 2008, I think I'll be able to get something much better by then for a good price.
For now I will look at spending on lenses and accessories.
