Hello,
I have yet to be successful in installing EE on my ISP, but I am interesed in getting a feel for the optimum size and type of image format that will work well with Image Magick and web presentation.
My purpose is two fold, one to provide an online portfolio, and two to provide a good resource for photobuyers to search and view images.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

You can browse some online galleries or stockphoto galleries, 150x100 seems to be a good size for thumbnails, 300x400 or 400x500 with watermark for the pics. You can also give the definitions and the ICC-profile for your high resolution downloads.
For EE we need a lightbox or some kind of shopping cart, also Pekka has talked about a user system to authorize and control downloads. Without these functions EE remains an excellent gallery, but it lacks some features to use it as a commercial script.
 We could also start a thread about who is willing to pay some extra fee for Pekka to develope a commercial mod or addon for EE, since he does the development of EE in his spare time. :!:
Just to give an idea, ImageFolio Commerce from www.imagefolio.com/commerce is quite good and you can also customize this perl script. Price: 750 $
Another script is 4images from www.4homepages.de/4images/download.php, here you have to hire a php programmer, a good implementation can be found here (in german) http://www.bildagentur-hamburg.com/hh/

Thanks for the ideas and links. I think creating a thread about the commercial aspects is an excellent idea.

not having been around to too many galleries and such, what is a good size for the microthumbs?
300x400 or 400x500 with watermark for the pics.
so far, i've been putting the actual pic in in the size that came from the camera... in most cases, that's been 1600x1280 or similar large size... i guess i need to set up for hi-res being the default that is uploaded, and then reduce to the ones you list here with watermark for normal viewing and such...
i'm learning this field as i go and have picked up a lot in recent times... i'm also curious as to how one gets their photos handled for prints to hang on the wall like what someone would likely do when they order a print from you...
also, do you still include in the ordered prints a signature or watermark? seems to be a good idea... just something in the corner like a painter would sign an portrait??
