Basically I was thinking about it the other day, and realized that with football season over I wouldn't NEED the f2.8 very much. So this week I'll be recieving an f4L+$250. With winter sports coming around, I figure I can invest the $250 into an 85 f1.8. Come springtime, if I need the 2.8 again, I'll be able to afford it, and the L version this time. Anyway, what differences should I expect? My sigma was plenty sharp. Once in a while it had some trouble focusing in lower light. This will be my first L, how much difference will there be in terms of colors, contrast etc.? I'm pretty excited, I hear first Ls are an experience!

I have the 70-200 F4L and 85 1.8, love them both. What type of winter sports? I shot hockey the other night with the 85 1.8, and although I will not lie the reason the photos came out crappy (composition and timing was completely off) are because it was my first time shooting hockey and it's a lot quicker then I thought, the lens itself actually was a pretty good focal length. The game was in a community center and I wasn't in the stands or anything, just around the glass.
