I have both Photoshop 6 and Photo Elelemnts 2 (came with my Drebel. For all intents and photographic puposes which one of the 2 programs is best for every day use. I have yet to load the PE2, is it worthwhile?

PSE2 is a great program for me. It's not too complicated and does what I need. Plugins for PS will work in PSE2. I'm not a professonal. PSE2 lacks the ability to work with 16 bit files and lacks curves and levels. If that isn't so important to you then PSE2 should be fine. There is a companion book called Inside Photoshop Elements that has a CD that adds curves and levels to PSE2. I suggest you install PSE2 and see if it meets your needs.

I feel the same way Scott do on PE2 it's a good no nonsense editing program that is easy to use. Go to a local bookstore and look thru some it's books and see what you can do with this program.
PS6 to me is too old major changes has happened to this software and if you plan on doing some major editing or want to start learning PS I would go for CS and get it done with. That way you'll have the latest software to complete everything.

If you are already familiar with Photoshop 6, stick with it. The more you you use it, the more proficient you will become and you will have no problems if and when you upgrade to PS CS. There's no harm in installing PE2 - it won't interfere with PS6. I installed PE1 but much preferred the full Photoshop. If you can upgrade to PS CS - so much the better. You will be able to open/convert your RAW images and do a great deal more in 16 bit mode to make the most of them.

I followed your advise and loaded PSE2. Simply stated, WOW! I really like the look of it. I think I'm gonna give PS6 a rest.

Don't worry, you'll soon go back to PS6.
